PART-I: Theory & Guidelines
The Traditional Chart is Essential to the Understanding of the Individual.
It Anchors the astrologer and Gives a Place to Start the Analysis.
It shows Locations, describes Places and even Geographical Directions.
It differentiates between the à€˜Owner' of the chart and the people around, sorting out the
relationship among them, while describing their various attributes.
It facilitates the process of integration and seeing the whole person, and shows how the themes
of the chart all work together.
The traditional chart contains the SOUL of the person.
The Uranian System Does Not Provide This Kind of Analysis.
It identifies the individual, the environment and the social interaction in different ways, using
different techniques.
It does a great job in pinpointing, highlighting and clarifying certain types of information that are
not always so clear in the traditional chart. At times it even uncovers facts that are quite obscure
in the regular chart.
Yet, oftentimes it fails to identify whether a statement is be about the owner of the chart or the
people related to the person.
I Call My Approach: Cross-Referencing Between the Two Systems.
Checking the facts across the two systems enables us to reinforce the information and become
more certain more specific. My First Fundamental Principle: Everything that is found on the 90ຠDial must show in the
regular chart in some other way, and vice versa.
My own experience confirms this consistently! I even play a game with myself:
What can I expect to see on the 90 Dial?
In this way, we truly get the Best of Both Worlds. To borrow a phrase, my approach forms
a Mutual Reception between the two systems:
The Uranian system has the capacity to spell out in detail the broad-stroke themes of the
traditional chart. On the other hand, the Traditional chart helps to sort out many of these details
and decide who is being described.
The Essential Techniques of the Hamburg School
The Uranian System is Distinguished by the Following Features:
1. The Introduction of the Eight Trans-Neptunian (Hypothetical) Planets - TNP's.
2. Use of 0° Cardinal Signs (Aries Point, World Axis) & the Lunar Nodes, as Personal Points.
3. The use of the 90° & 360° Rotating Dials & Graphic Display of Planetary Position.
4. Emphasis on Hard Aspects. (The Harmonics: 180, 90, 45, 135, 22à½, 11à¼, 55/8 )
5. Intensive use of Mid-Points.
6. Planetary Pictures (Symmetries of Equal Arc Openings, Sums & Half Sums).
7. Chart Analysis by Aspects / Pictures Mostly, Without Emphasis on Signs.
8. Meridian Houses, Earth Houses, Libra Rising chart, Sun Houses, Moon Houses, etc.
9. Focus on Solar Arc Directions together with Transits, in Forecast Work.
Each one of these techniques les can be used alone, to maximize the interpretive value contained in the chart. Some can be easily incorporated into regular chart analysis without much effort since they are immediately visible to the eye.
They bring a wealth of additional precision to the astrologer's work and provide a deeper look into the chart. It is like putting the chart under a magnifying glass!
The Attributes of the Eight TNP's:
The TNP's sometimes Act like Adjectives, adding Description & Further Qualifying the
à€˜Real' Planets:
Cupido
Socializing, gregarious, bringing together. Tending towards marriage, need togetherness.
Hades
Lowly, unsavory, antique, old, in bad condition, second hand, dejected. Junk, garbage, dirty. Of the past.
Zeus
Fiery, Creative Force. Machinery.
Kronos
Authoritative, high quality, above average, professional, independent. Authority, government, president.
Narrowing, making things smaller, compact, narrow, raw, original. Inertia. Rotation. Earth. Land.
Vulcanus
Mighty, powerful, strong. Heavy Machinery.
Poseidon
Spiritualizes, refines. Light. Enlightened.
The 90° Dial
The 90° Dial is the most efficient tool for Finding Hard Aspects, Midpoints & Planetary and
Pictures configurations.
It brings out the various combinations in an immediate visual way that does not require any
computations.
The chars below briefly sample the difference between the Traditional and the Dial chart view.
The traditional chart of this individual was run twice: Placidus & Equal Houses.
On the following page you will find the same chart as seen on the 90ຠDial.
This chart will also be presented in more detail in Part-II.
COMPARE THIS DIAL VIEW TO THE TRADITIONAL CHART ABOVE:
Diagram-A
Note how the Dial view
emphasizes the tight aspects
between:
MC, Uranus and Zeus
Jupiter and the Nodes
Mercury, Apollon & the Nodes
Poseidon, Mars, Jupiter, Nodes
Diagram-B
By rotating the Dial, more
aspect can be discovered:
Exact aspect (22 à½) between Mercury, Apollon & Nodes.
Aspects
The Uranian System Uses Hard Aspects Only.
Good or Bad is Determined by the Essential Signification of the Planets involved.
While the traditional system allows wide orbs, sometimes even from sign to sign, the Uranian
system requites Precision, which comes from very small orbs.
Some astrologers use a little wider orbs, but my choice is the following:
ASPECT
ORB
0°
1཰
180°
1཰
90°
1཰
45°, 135°
1°
22 འ°
0° 20'
11 ༠°
0° 7'
5 5/8 °
0° 0'
Mid-Points
Mid-Points can be Direct or Indirect. On the Dial this makes no difference, as long as they form
an aspect with some other planet or personal point.
The following is a list of midpoints which I find useful in many situations.
They are well-known and can be added to per the preference of the astrologer:
ASC / MC
Sole / Luna
Sole / Kronos
Sole / Cupido
Luna / Cupido
Venere / Cupido
Luna / Venere
Venere / Marte
Marte / Giove
Marte / Saturno
Marte / Kronos
Marte / Nodo
Giove / Saturno
Aspect & Mid-Point Notation
Midpoint:: A + B - C (C is at the midpoint of A & B)
Symmetry:: A + B - C = D ( Equal Opening between two pairs: A-C and D-B)
