Dear friends and colleagues,
For the long time astrology in the Soviet Union was clandestine and developing in its own separate way. This process had its pro and contra. Going their own way Russian astrologers elaborated a number of original astrological methods and techniques. But the disadvantage of independent development was bigger. For example, Russian astrologers knew almost nothing about Hamburg School methods. The propaganda of Alfred Witte's ideas in Russia and on the territory of former Soviet republics (mainly in Latvia) began only after 1991. Therefore we perfectly realize the importance of international information exchange, in particular in respect of new achievements and developments in Astrology. We understand the necessity of cooperation among the astrologers of different countries.
We, representatives of Hamburg School Astrology in Russia, would like to initiate the cooperation and the information exchange among our colleagues. Let us introduce you our report on work fulfilled during several past years in the area of Hamburg School Astrology promotion in Russia. We hope that would help better understanding of fields of possible ooperation.
It would be very helpful if astrologers of other countries supported our initiative and wrote corresponding reports on their activities. It certainly would help to improve cooperation among the followers of Alfred Witte's ideas.

Roman Brol ( a.k.a. Denis Kutalyov),
Konstantin Arev

Please, find below the description of four main fields of work of Russian Hamburg School astrologers: popularization of A. Witte's ideas; Hamburg School methods teaching; astrological researches and publishing of articles and books devoted to Hamburg School.

I ) Popularization of Hamburg School and information support

* In 1994 è 1998 Denis Kutalyov (the author of a New Astrological Encyclopaedia) wrote several articles on Hamburg School of Astrology, its methods, terminology and main representatives. Some of those articles were published in the magazine Russian Astrology in 1995 è 1996. Articles dedicated to such persons as A. Witte, F. Sieggrun, L. Rudolph, G. Lefeldt, C. Emerson etc. were incorporated in the book New Astrological Encyclopaedia. Biographies published in Tomsk in 1997. In this book the Hamburg School of Astrology was represented as an important branch of contemporary astrology.
* In 1998 Alfred Witte's biography in Russian and English was placed on the Russian web site www.astrologer.ru directed by Albert Timashev. On this web site one can also find two early articles by Mr. Witte (as a part of project on translation of Witte's works to Russian). Unfortunately this project of Yuri Karpenko and Alfred Timashev has stopped. But it gave an impetus to the increase of interest in A. Witte and his study among Russian astrologers.
* In 2000 Denis Kutalyov started placing his articles in Internet, in particular, since Spring 2001 - a series of articles Introduction to the Hamburg School methods.
* On March 1, 2003 a site The Hamburg School Astrology (moderator Denis Kutalyov) was opened at the portal AstroLogic.Ru: http://www.astrologic.ru/hamburg/. Presently it contains 12 different articles among which you can find articles of founders of this School (for example, Important Principles of Hamburg School by Herbert Pauels), articles of modern astrologers (Poseidon as higher spirituality: Vladimir Solovyov's chart by Asya Solomko), as well as essays (Astrology of Hamburg School: Impressions of seminar participant by Eugeniy Volokontsev). We would like to note that depending on the day of the week the number of visitors of this portal amounts up to 3000 and even up to 5500 per day.
* In 2003 within the framework of international voluntary association ARGO (Astrology*Research*Group*Online) started Project named The study of Hamburg School Astrology Methods (Project manager è Konstantin Arev). The aim of this project is to improve professional skills of modern astrologers and to demonstrate abilities of modern astrology (in particular, of Hamburg School Astrology) to forecast different events.
* In 2003 Moscow publishing house The World of Urania published a book Essays on Uranian Astrology by Denis Kutalyov and Konstantin Arev. It was the first book in Russia on Witte's methods. The volume of this book is more than 400 pages. The same year was published a book on Ephemeris of 8 Transneptunian planets calculated for the period of 1940 è 2010 according to James Neely's formulas.
* Starting January 2004 one can visit a public forum The study of Hamburg School Astrology at www.astroresearch.net. In June 2004 at the same site was opened specialized forum only for Hamburg School astrology
students (its moderators are Konstantin Arev and Denis Kutalyov).
* At the major annual Moscow astrological conference held in September 2003 Denis Kutalyov and Konstantin Arev made important reports on Astrologers' Charts From The Hamburg School Point Of View and on Geodetic Angles: LA and LM in Mundane Astrology accordingly. At the next conference held in September 2004 these two astrologers made the following reports: Synastry Arcs of Directions (D. Kutalyov) and Common Patterns in Astrologers' Children Charts (K. Arev). These astrologers often give lectures and hold seminars in Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, Kishinev (Moldova) and Odessa (Ukraine).
* As an important event we shall note Udo Rudolph's visit in Moscow in September 2004. U. Rudolf gave 2 lectures and held a 3-day intensive seminar. He also spoke kindly to students of Classical Astrology Higher School who were beginners in study of Hamburg school astrology.
* Programmers developing software for astrologers in Russia and Ukraine started applying Hamburg School Techniques. One can find such a block of techniques in ZET 7 (Programmer is Anatoly Zaitzev, Sevastopol, Ukraine). Fedor Rozhansky (developed software STAR) and Pavel Karev (software STALKER), both from Moscow, also work on applying Hamburg School methods into their software.
* According to the leading Russian search system Yandex.ru there are 821 pages in Russian Internet with reference to Hamburg School and 534 pages with reference to Alfred Witte (in comparison with 211 pages referring to
Cosmobiology of Ebertin).

II ) Education

* In winter 2003-2004 Konstantin Arev was invited to give series of lectures on Hamburg School Astrology in the Classical Astrology Higher School (Moscow). As the result starting September 2004 Hamburg Astrology methods became mandatory full-year course for 4th year students at this School. Students obliged to take final tests on this course.
* K. Arev and D. Kutalyov also teach Moscow astrologers Hamburg School methods at 5 months courses (22 weeks, 4 hours per week). Starting March 2004 astrologers from other cities may attend two- or three-day group seminars at the Classical Astrology Higher School.
* There is a one year course on Hamburg School Astrology in Nizhniy Novgorod Astrological Society taught by Anton Eudokimov.
* Training appliances are prepared for all educational forms. The above mentioned education programs represent two combined approaches. On the one hand they show the difference between the traditional and the Hamburg School astrology, between the languages they use, since sometimes even the classical planets have somewhat different meanings. On the other hand they teach that Witte's astrological system represents itself developed ideas of traditional astrology. We place high emphasis on training our students in practical forecasting and clients consulting.

III ) Research and development

* Study of Mr. Witte's heritage, analysis of his works concerning planetary horoscopes, yearly horoscopes and system of sensitive points.
* Application of additional forecasting charts suggested by Mr. Witte in astrological practice for more precise forecast of events apparent from yearly chart (both in natal and in mundane astrology).
* Application of Mr. Witte's system approach to the use of sensitive points, sums and odds in analysis of solar revolution charts in individual astrology.
* Placing emphasis on full moon charts (according to Witte's theory coincidence of two planetary charts is of great importance).
* Theoretical rationale of change in planets meanings in Hamburg School in comparison with classical astrology.
* The astronomic substantiation of transneptunian planets cycles in Hamburg School. Russian astrologers Irina Vichaite and Vladimir Kovrigin had an effort to reconstruct planet orbits calculation method that had been introduced by Mr. Witte and Mr. Sieggruen.
* Research on importance of half-sum of geodetic Meridian and Ascendant in two systems of geodetic equivalents: ecliptic (Sefarial) and equatorial (Friedrich - Grimm) for mundane astrology purposes. This approach proved to be efficient in forecasting of political events, terroristic acts, catastrophes and natural disasters.
* Development of means of applying Hamburg School methods in horizontal coordinate system (Local Space Astrology). These methods could be used for description of interaction between a person and his/her environment such as apartment, building, neighborhood, town/city and even the Globe.
* Research on future trends of applying Hamburg School methods in Astro*Carto*Graphy.
* Application of Hamburg School methods for determining of astrological meanings of new planets and asteroids discovered by astronomers.
* Application of Hamburg School methods for revealing of symbolic/relative center of gravity of the main asteroid belt and study of its astrological meaning.
* Study of astrological meaning of those main axes of the celestial coordinate system that were not used by classical astrology.
* Study and investigation of the hierarchy of methods applied to astrological analysis of personal relations (synastry, composite, Davison' chart, etc.)

* Development of Synastry arcs of directions method (analysis of solar arc directions for the partner's time of birth).
* Detection of chart of Moscow city that is fundamentally important for forecasting of mundane events on the territory of Moscow and entire Russia.
* Statistical study of composer's formula (the interaction among Mercury, Cupido and Zeus) in 62 composers' charts and in the charts of musical new productions/first openings.
* Analysis of astrology formulas in personal, relationship and company charts as well as in mundane cycles.
* Statistical study of 60 charts of astrologers' children that revealed common pattern of planetary pictures.
* Studying of charts of mutual cycles of slow planets and their planetary pictures; studying of charts made for the moment of antiscia or contrantiscia formation among slow planets as key charts for description of certain themes in mundane astrology (e.g. the influence of mutual cycles of Cupido, Hades and Poseidon on church history, in particular on church/religion splits)
* Research on importance of mundane cycles connected with series of Mercury stations and analysis thereof.
